Ronit Roy teams up again with Karan Johar for his ‘2 States’ co-produced with Sajid Nadiadwala!

The renowned lawyer of the small screen, which is famous for solving the weirdest cases as his character K.D. Pathak in the show Adaalat – actor Ronit Roy has been roped in for a film. Post doing a supporting role in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, Ronit has now teamed up again with the film maker for his next. 2 States is a screen adaptation of the popular novel with the same name by author Chetan Bhagat. This movie is being jointly produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Newbie actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are playing the lead couple, which will depict the south Indian girl and north Indian boy respectively. 2 States is a real story based on author Chetan Bhagat’s love life.


Being directed by debutant Abhishek Varman, this film 2 States releases on 18th April, 2014. Both Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala are very much happy with the cast and crew of the movie. According to the director, no one other than Alia and Arjun would have been able to play the roles perfectly. Coming back to Ronit Roy’s character, though he is giving a special appearance, his character is going to be a very strong one. He is playing Arjun’s father in the movie, which will be shown with a little negative aspect to it. Despite of everything Ronit says, “The film will portray a beautiful story between a father and a son.” The actor also revealed that his role in 2 States is inspired by Chetan Bhagat’s father in real life. He adds, “The film is a love story where a North Indian boy falls in love with a South Indian girl and how the couple overcomes various cultural differences which pose as an obstacle for their marriage.”


The director Abhishek Varman has not tempered with the original story of the book, which Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar feel is a right decision!
