Indian film producer Sajid Nadiadwala is a proud film maker of almost six films this year. He has these half a dozen movies in his kitty, out of which five will release this year itself and the sixth one, will go on floors soon. However, there are two films that the ace producer seems to be doing in 2014, which will be flooded with lots of action and drama. Having always made commercial entertainers, Sajid is stepping out of his comfort zone and trying his hands over new genres. He admits that he was willing to do so only due to his association with directors like Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan in these films. One is the road film Highway that has been directed by Imtiaz and Sajid is presenting it worldwide. Other is the action thriller Phantom being directed by Kabir and produced by Sajid. Both release on 21st February and 2nd October respectively this year.
Talking about finding pride in working with talented directors like Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan, film maker Sajid Nadiadwala said, “Highway is a beautiful story so I jumped into the project. I feel proud to be associated with Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan. It is not intentional. It is not that just because I was making only entertainers I want to work with them. I would like to be associated with those whose cinema I like and feel comfortable working with. It is not a conscious decision.” Adding to the conversation the producer said, “I have grown up watching cinema of directors like JP Dutta. Now I am reinventing myself. Even sitting with Imtiaz and Kabir refreshes me. It is like taking coaching classes and such heavy duty coaching classes coming free is not bad. It is a great experience to see how they visualize and conceptualize their films. Such heavy duty coaching classes coming free is not bad.”
