Salman Khan is one of those celebrities of Bollywood who is so much cooler than the others. His fans love him for what he is as a human. In fact, he has fans within the industry too and vice versa. Recently, he was shooting at Mehboob Studios for his upcoming film Kick, which is being directed by film producer Sajid Nadiadwala. He got to hear that actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are also present at the same venue doing a promotional photo shoot for their movie 2 States. This is also a film being made under Sajid’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. As soon as Salman got to know about the newbie actors’ presence at the studio, he decided to visit them. So was the charming Khan a guest of honour on the sets of 2 States, Well, no! Actually, his love for these two young talents made him so excited that he did not want to lose a chance to meet them, especially when he was right there.
When Salman Khan visited Alia and Arjun on the set, everybody went mad. They all looked like those typical star struck fans including these two newcomers. Everyone posed with Salman to get them clicked with the superstar. Explaining about the entire scenario a source said, “In fact, Arjun, who has been close to the Khan family for years, didn’t have a photograph of his with Salman. So, he grabbed the opportunity to get one quickly. Then bhai left on his motorcycle with a cavalcade of cars following him, leaving a dust storm behind.” 2 States is a screen adaptation of the book written by Chetan Bhagat, which filmmakers Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar are co-producing. The promotional photo shoot at Mehboob Studios was for the same film. This Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer romantic flick will release on 18th April this year!
The Alia Bhatt starrer ‘2 States’ is a screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel with the same name, which was published in 2009. This book is inspired by Chetan’s real life love story. It is being is co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Alia is playing the role of a south Indian girl from Chennai. This Tamil Brahmin girl falls in love with a North Indian Punjabi boy on the campus of IIMA.
Since Alia is playing a south Indian girl in this film, comparison to Deepika Padukone’s character from Chennai Express is inevitable. Sajid Nadiadwala put the speculations to rest when he recently spoke about Ananya Swaminathan, Alia’s character in the film. He said, “Alia has played the first non-caricatural South Indian character in our films. Normally, when we show South Indians in our films they have thick accents, and if it’s a woman from the South she will have gajra in her hair and will go ‘Aiyo yo’ every five minutes. Alia does none of that.” He added further, “How do I explain this? Alia is Tamilian and she even talks in Tamil. But she behaves like a normal city wife.”
Alia Bhatt also spoke about her role in this Sajid Nadiadwala film and the difficulty she faced as she was specifically asked not to put on an accent. “I was not allowed to be culture-specific in 2 States in my body-language or my accent. Yes, I am a Tamilian in 2 States. But I don’t make a show of my regional roots. It is tough because when you are not resorting to speech and behavioral props you have no handy tools to give personality to your character,” said the 20 year old actor, who is basking in the success of her second hit in Bollywood, Highway. She will be seen opposite Arjun Kapoor, who is also 3 films old in the industry. 2 States, which is being presented worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures, is set to release on April 18 2014.
Of late, we have been seeing a lot of Kashmir in many of the films that have released in the last year. Kashmir seems to have become a dream location for shooting for several film makers. The reason might be the breathtaking sceneries that would add beauty to the films. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan also was partially shot in the mesmerizing valley of Kashmir. Another movie, which was recently shot here, was the Vishal Bhardwaj film Haider. Coming to the current year, the audience will see Kashmir everywhere in the films releasing this year as well, especially those made under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. banner. The Sajid Nadiadwala presentation Highway, which is a road film releases on 21st February this year. A few scenes from this movie also have been shot in Kashmir and other five north Indian states.
Sajid Nadiadwala is producing more four movies this year, out of which, two are being shot in Kashmir. One of them is the action drama Heropanti that stars debutant Tiger Shroff opposite model turned actor Kriti Sanon. This film is currently being short in Mumbai, but would shift its location to Kashmir for filming a song sequence. Along with it Sajid is taking his action thriller to Kashmir, which Kabir Khan is directing. Phantom is a full-fledged action film that the producer is making for the first time. He is new to the action genre. However, with Kabir as a support, he did not mind taking the plunge. Coincidentally, both Heropanti and Phantom will be shot in Kashmir, that too at the same time. It is a 10 days schedule in Kashmir for the two movies. While, Heropanti is slated to release on 16th May this year, the release date for Phantom has been recently declared as 2nd October, which is Gandhi Jayanti!
Call it a coincidence or a well planned strategy, but maybe first ever time in the history of Bollywood, two films with the same female lead might release on the same day. One is the Sajid Nadiadwala produced and Kabir Khan directed Phantom and the other is the Hrithik Roshan starrer Bang Bang. Actress Katrina Kaif plays the lead role in both the films, where she will play the love interest of Saif in Phantom and will be seen romancing Hrithik in Bang Bang. Explaining about the release date issue, a source said, “Director Kabir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala finished the first schedule of the film a few weeks ago and since then, they have been looking for the perfect date for the film’s release. Sajid is adamant about releasing the film on this day as it falls on the first day of the longest weekend of the year. October 2 marks Gandhi Jayanti on a Thursday; the next day is Dusshera, followed by the weekend and Eid on Monday. An official announcement is yet to be made but if things fall in place, October 2 will be the release date.”
On the other hand, Bang Bang has already announced 2nd October to be its release date, without even starting to shoot for the film. Confirming the news, the source added, “A lot of filmmakers are eyeing this date. For instance, the makers of Bang Bang are yet to start shooting their film, but they have already declared October 2 as their release date. Now if both these films end up releasing on the same day, they will invariably eat into each other’s business. Moreover, Katrina Kaif, the leading lady in both the films, will have a tough time promoting it.” Having completed shooting for two schedules of Phantom, Sajid Nadiadwala might not change its release date from 2nd October to anything else. All we can do is wait and watch, if the two films hit the theatres on the same day!
First film, lead role, an amazing film maker to start with, great script, and a star father is all that debutant Tiger Shroff has. The lucky youngster seems to be on the top of this world because soon this year he will be seen in his very first film Heropanti. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sabbir Khan, this movie will be a complete package as it has a little of everything from romance to drama and from dance to action. Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon will play the lead pair in Heropanti, for which Tiger has been working hard since a long time now. Finally nearing the release, the actor could not stop himself from expressing his excitement over his debut. He said, “It has been a really long journey, firstly of understanding the movies and the craft and then immersing myself totally into the character and becoming it. Following that began the actual shooting. So yes I am really eager to see how the entire team’s hard work comes across, especially since it was a cast and crew that were entirely new.”
Sajid Nadiadwala and Sabbir Khan are equally excited about making the film, especially with Tiger Shroff, who is veteran Jackie Shroff’s son. The 21 year old actor had to master his skills in martial arts and dance for Heropanti, which he did with much dedication. Sabbir is responsible for making him take the much detailed training sessions that helped a lot in shaping the boy’s character in the film. Talking about the film Sabbir said, “It has been an exciting journey. Apart from Tiger and Kriti (Sanon) being newcomers, the rest of the cast and crew are relatively freshers. In fact, the average age of the unit was about 23/24yrs. The shoot shifted from Punjab to Mumbai and from Delhi to Kashmir. We’ve shot for endless hours but the energy and spunk of the unit was infectious and I think we’ve given it our all.”
This Sajid Nadiadwala flick releases on 16th May this year!
To enter Bollywood, do a few good roles, and suddenly get a lead role opposite one of the famous Khans in the industry is a big thing. And, when you are not even from the same country, it might get more difficult. However, with her charm and acting skills, the beautiful and gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez, who is from Sri Lanka, has bagged an important role in the upcoming Salman Khan starrer Kick. Kick is the remake of the Telugu movie with the same name, which is also film producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut. He is also producing the film under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Actors Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Archana Puran Singh, and Mithun Chakraborty are playing the lead roles in the movie, which is about a conman and the cop assigned to nab him.
While Sajid Nadiadwala has taken the risk of trusting Jacqueline based on her past work in super hit movies like Race 2 and Housefull 2, the actress does not plan to put him down. For the first time, Jacqueline will be seen as the sole lead in Kick that too opposite super star Salman Khan. Knowing that she has to prove herself to the newly turned director the actress is putting in the efforts. Talking about herself Jacqueline said, “For starters, I am pretty honest with myself. If there is something that I like or don’t like about my work then I won’t be overtly critical about myself. I would rather keep that in mind for my current and future projects. Fortunately I have honest people in life, who show me the true picture and advise me on where I need to work on or change. To top it all, I am my own best critic. Neither am I partial, nor am I over judgmental. I am plain and simple honest to myself.” So, such an attitude helps Jacky make herself eligible for her role in Kick.
This Sajid Nadiadwala production Kick will release on 25th July, 2014!
